ELCA National Youth Gathering

June 23-26 and July 1-2, 2018

Want to help your high school youth grow in their faith through interactive learning, worship, Bible study and fellowship? Want to join over 30,000 young people and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for a week of inspiration? Want to travel to and serve others in Houston? If you answered yes to any of these questions, join Carol Joy Holling Camp at the 2018 Youth Gathering!

We are partnering with the Nebraska Synod and congregations looking to send small groups (5 or fewer including adult leaders) to the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, TX. We will provide transportation and programming for the four days leading up to and the two days following the Gathering. We will make stops at National sites such as the Oklahoma City Monument and Museum. Our days in Houston leading up to the Gathering will help us get acquainted with the city in which we will be serving. Youth will participate in service opportunities as well as community building activities such as a attending a Houston Astros baseball game and worshipping on the beach.

Tentative Schedule:

Saturday, June 23rd  –
6:00 a.m.     Check-in and load up at Carol Joy Holling Camp
6:15 a.m.     Vans leave
2:00 p.m.     Oklahoma City Monument and Museum
5:30 p.m.     Arrive at hotel
6:00 p.m.     Dinner on your own
8:00 p.m.     Devotions and free time

Sunday, June 24th  –
8:00 a.m.     Breakfast
8:30 a.m.     Depart for Houston
3:00 p.m.     Arrive in Houston, Move into Hotel
3:30 p.m.     Free time
4:00 p.m.     Explore downtown Houston + Group Dinner

Monday, June 27th –
7:00 a.m.     Breakfast
8:00 a.m.     Service Day
12:00 p.m.   Lunch on your own
6:30 p.m.     Quick dinner stop (on your own)
7:00 p.m.     Houston Astros Baseball Game

Tuesday, June 26th –
7:00 a.m.     Breakfast
8:00 a.m.     Service Element
3:00 p.m.     Head to Galveston Island
                    Explore/Beach time
6:00 p.m.     Group Dinner
7:30 p.m.     Worship on the Beach

Wednesday, June 25th – Sunday, July 1st
Gathering Events: Each group is responsible for registering for the Gathering as well as securing their Gathering hotels for June 24-July 1. You will need to put in a request when registering with the Gathering for a hotel three days leading up to the event.

Sunday, July 1st –
Gathering Closing
1:00 p.m.     Hit the road
10:00 p.m.    Arrive in Oklahoma City and stay in a hotel

Monday, July 2nd –
7:00 a.m.     Breakfast/Devotion
7:30 a.m.     Head back to Nebraska
3:00 p.m.     Arrive back at Carol Joy Holling Camp

Cost

$450 per participant. This cost includes lodging, transportation and programing for the pre- and post-Gathering trip (June 23-26 and July 1-2). Each group is responsible for registering for the Gathering and securing their Gathering lodging for duration of the event as well as the three days leading up to the Gathering (June 24-July 1).
