Becoming an Outdoors-Family is a series of Nebraska Game & Parks workshops designed to teach basic outdoor skills to help families enjoy the outdoors together. Experts provide hands-on instruction in skills related to fishing, camping, kayaking, archery, hunting and more.
A goal of Becoming an Outdoors-Family is to give families an opportunity to reconnect with each other and the great outdoors in a comfortable, safe and relaxed setting. Workshops are open to all types of families. Bring your grandchild, niece or nephew or big brother or sister and join us.
10 a.m. Check-in
10:30 a.m. Introductions, Camp set-up, Tent demonstration
12 p.m. Fishing, boating, lake fun (sack lunch at lake)
4:30 p.m. Free Time, Nature hike (hunter safety***)
6 p.m. Outdoor Cooking
8 p.m. Campfire, Devotion, Songs and S’mores
7:30 a.m. Campfire Breakfast/Devotion
9 a.m. Pack up
9:30 a.m. Platte River State Park Archery, 3D shooting
12 p.m. Lunch provided by Platte River Catering
Families can choose between setting up their own campsite in our Campground or renting a cabin. Each cabin includes 4 bunk beds. Restrooms and showers are located a short walk away.
$175 per cabin
$150 per campsite (includes electrical and water hook-ups)
